Opportunity 61: New flare system

A new flare system with flare gas recovery has been installed on the new platform Eldfisk 2/7 S, which has replaced the old flare system for Eldfisk Complex located at Eldfisk 2/7 FTP.

The new flare system is expected to considerably reduce flaring from Eldfisk Complex since the new system recovers gas and returns it to the process stream as opposed to flaring it directly. Projected emission reductions came to about 21 000 tons CO2 and 10.8 tons NOx per year, and accounts for the increased activity in relation to start-up of the new platform Eldfisk 2/7 S.

Results based on operational experience:
The new flare system was put into normal operation in March 2015, and has achieved an annual reduction of 21 000 tons CO2 and 5.3 tons NOx compared to emissions for 2014.

ConocoPhillips has implemented this measure on Eldfisk 2/7 S
