This website provides guidance on energy management for the upstream oil and gas sector on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The purpose of the website is to combine knowledge and experience from different sources to a unified guidance for best practices. The website is therefore constructed as a guide and is meant to act as a resource when establishing and maintaining energy management in operating companies in the Norwegian petroleum industry. A desired side effect of this will be that companies strengthen their own work within energy management and energy efficiency, and that the companies achieve environmental benefits in terms of reduced CO2/energy intensity of production and/or reduced/avoided CO2 emissions.
The energy management system should be integrated into existing systems and processes in companies as a general management system, HSE management system or environmental management system (see Integration with other management systems under Tools).
The guidance is intended as a resource and is no substitute for the responsibilities that each company is required in interpretation, implementation and monitoring of regulatory requirements and clauses in the relevant ISO standards.
The website is organised in the 4 common steps found in typical management systems:
- Plan – How to start?
- Do – What to do in practice?
- Check – How did it go?
- Act – What should be updated or adjusted?
Each step is further organised in chapters, each following a common structure. This makes it easier to get an overview and find specific information.
