Opportunity 6: Downsizing of process equipment

Downsizing the process equipment is possible by optimising the operations and modifying the equipment. This is relevant for installations in tail production which often have reduced or changed capacity needs. This can be done through, e.g.:

  • Using only one booster pump on the oil export when possible
  • Modifying the size of the oil export pump in relation to future production
  • Modifying the size and the number of compression trains (to adjust to the actual gas production)

Company that assessed/implemented these improvement opportunities: Aker BP, Statoil

System group: Export and by-product handling (30-39)
Type: Operations optimisation / Modification Investment: Not quantified
Profitability: Variable Implementation: Assessed/Implemented
