Opportunity 58: Upgrade of combined cycle system | |
---|---|
Upgrading of waste heat recovery system on Eldfisk 2/7 E, used for power generation. Previously this system only covered exhaust heat from two water injection turbines and one gas compression turbine. Unstable operation of the old system led to use of a back-up generator to have sufficient power. It was therefore decided to upgrade the system with a new heat recovery solution. The new system consists of two independent parts that can cover exhaust heat from four water injection turbines (only two at a time), and one gas compression turbine on Eldfisk 2/7 E. This new system is anticipated to provide 9.5 MW of power output, 2 MW more than the old system. The improvement opportunity was implemented to enhance the overall efficiency of the power generation system, as well as cover the additional power demand at Eldfisk from execution of the Eldfisk II project. Parts of the increased power demand will now be met by the enhanced efficiency of the combined cycle system, instead of additional fuel gas consumption. Results: |
