Opportunity 56: Opportunity 56. Heat tracing evaluations

Brage is currently evaluating the need for heat tracing. This falls into two groups:

  • Electrical heating elements that are still in use, but no longer required. These should be disconnected.
  • Electrical heating elements that are active all year round, but only needed during winter. These should be connected to a control system and operated based on temperature measurements.

Results are not yet fully quantified as the improvement opportunity is still being assessed. But, preliminary estimates indicate annual emission reductions of 160 tons CO2.

Wintershall is assessing this improvement opportunity on Brage

System group: Drilling, well and subsea (10-19)
Type: Operations optimisation Investment: Not quantified
Profitability: Profitable Implementation: Not assessed
