Opportunity 48: Changing well from oil to gas manifold

Gjøa well B3 is a high GOR well. By using the gas manifold instead of the oil manifold, significant capacity in the Gjøa 2nd stage separator was freed up. This enabled more efficient operations of the LP compressor and 3rd stage re-compressor with efficiency gains corresponding to 1,5 MW reduced energy demand.

This modification also entails an expected increase in production from other oil wells.

Results (environmental and financial): No direct environmental benefits given Gjøa is powered from shore. Will expect increased oil production and somewhat lower electricity costs.

The measure's technical lifetime: Until conversion to low-pressure production towards the end of 2016

Engie has implemented the improvement opportunity on Gjøa.

System group: Drilling, well and subsea (10-19)
Type: Modification Investment: 0,1 - 1 MNOK
Profitability: Profitable Implementation: Implemented
