Opportunity 41: More efficient turbine operation on Gyda | |
---|---|
Running 1 turbine on gas and the other only periodically on diesel when needed. Due to insufficient supply of fuel gas one of the turbines runs on diesel. The idea was to reduce diesel consumption and associated emissions. An internal workshop revealed that it was possible to run one turbine on gas, and the other only periodically on diesel in connection with seawater injection. To achieve this, an optimisation of energy intensive processes was carried out, better energy management at high power requirements as well as acceptance of the risk of production downtime when just having one turbine in operation.
