Opportunity 24: Turbine modification

Modifications on gas turbines can give relatively large effects for a more efficient energy production, this can be achieved through, e.g.:

  • New air intake and modified anti-icing system
  • Removing the pre-filter in turbines
  • Upgrading the turbines from C to G version, improving the efficiency by 1%
  • Changing the voltage regulator on the main turbine in order to increase the effect from the steam turbine from 15 to 20 MW
  • Changing the type of labyrinth seals

Company that assessed/implemented these improvement opportunities: Statoil

System group: Main process (20-29)
Type: Modification Investment: Not quantified
Profitability: Variable Implementation: Assessed/Implemented
