Opportunity 22: Flaring

The amount of gas flared can be reduced by modifying the flare system. This can be achieved through, e.g.:

  • Closing the pilot flame (on-demand ignition systems)
  • Implementing a closed flare system with gas recovery
  • Modifying the pilot burners at the flare tip
  • Reducing flaring with use of condensate recovery
  • Replacing gaskets on safety valves to a more gas-resistant type

Company that assessed/implemented these improvement opportunities: Statoil

System group: System general
Type: Modification Investment: Not quantified
Profitability: Variable Implementation: Assessed/Implemented
