Opportunity 2: Reduced use of diesel

The routines and best practice for operating the asset were changed. This is linked to routines for operating the diesel generators during irregularities or in case of expected irregularity. New routines and practice have therefore reduced the running time for diesel generators.

Results:

  • Reduced operational costs and NOx fee
  • Saved costs: 1 MNOK to the NOX-fond, 0.1 MNOK in quotas. Ca. 8 MNOK in net saved fuel expenses.
  • 2015, whole year: reduced the monthly diesel consumption by 200 m3
  • Net CO2 emissions reduction by ca. 110 ton/month

Aker BP has implemented this improvement opportunity on the Alvheim FPSO.

System group: Process support and utility systems (40-69)
