Opportunity 14: Power generation

Optimising the daily operational routines can influence the energy use. It is possible to optimise the use of power generators, individually or in common, to improve the use of energy (fuel):

  • Running one turbine only, combined with a boiler for the heat demand. The efficiency can be increased from ca. 30 to 36 %
  • Running only one steam turbine and one main power turbine.

Company that assessed/implemented one or more of these improvement opportunities: Aker BP, Statoil

System group: Electrical (80-89)
Type: Operations optimisation Investment: < 0,1 MNOK
Profitability: Variable Implementation: Assessed
